Domaine de Grand Pré has taken a fresh approach to producing top-quality Nova Scotia wines. Unlike most modern wineries that have adopted the trend of producing Old World wines such as Chardonnay, Domaine de Grand Pré believes that new wine-producing areas in Nova Scotia should develop their own varieties, styles and vineyard practices that will thrive in the local soil and oceanic climate. To achieve this, the winery has partnered with Agriculture Canada to develop hardy Nova Scotian grape varieties.

We currently produce the following varieties:

Seyval Blanc 15.50
This light bodied white wine is crisp, refreshing and true to the varietal character of Seyval Blanc. It displays notes of green apple, honeydew melon and grapefruit, all balanced with a fresh acidity and a long finish. Summer salads with vinaigrettes and white fish with lemon are the perfect match.

L'Acadie Blanc 14.50
A full-bodied wine of complex character. Pleasant aromas of fresh cut hay and herbal notes are complemented by a rich, full and slightly buttery flavour balanced by a lively grapefruit acidity. Lovely with seafood, white meat or cheese dishes.

Vidal Blanc 14.50

This medium-dry wine has an intriguing and pronounced nose, offering delicate floral notes supported by candied apple fruit. This wine can be enjoyed on its own, with spicy Asian cuisine or different cheeses.

Verrazano Rose 14.50

This dry rose, named after the great Italian explorer, Giovanni da Verrazano, shows the same depth of charater,. Made from a special blend of our estate grown L'Acadie Blanc and Marechal Foch grapes, the resulting wine is bursting and with delightful fruit flavours and a crisp pleasing finish

Léon Millot  16.00
Léon Millot is a sister variety to the Maréchal Foch grape. It produces a wine rich in raspberry and cherry fruit characteristics with subtle nuances of white pepper. This light-bodied, dry red wine is all brought together with a round mint chocolate finish. Enjoy this wine with most meats and tomato-based sauces.

This Ortega is a brilliant wine with intense aromas of pear, dried apricot and honey, layered with delicate floral notes and rose petal. Produced in an off-dry style, the pronounced nose leads to an elegant, balanced and complexe palate.

Vintner's Reserve Moulin Rouge  18.50

This fun red wine is the result of blending some of the best varieties that Nova Scotia has to offer, including Baco Noir, Marechal Foch, Leon Millot, Castel and even some L’Acadie Blanc

This limited release Pinot St.Laurent is an elegant wine of pronounced character. Bright cherry characteristics, integrated with spicy notes are supported by soft tannic structure. It’s a pleasure in the glass and on the palate

Vintner's Reserve Foch  24.50
Our Maréchal Foch Reserve has been aged in oak barrels for one year and displays rich fruity notes of raspberry and cherry. It is a well-balanced wine with a firm structure complimenting red meat, game or pasta with red sauces

Vintner's Reserve Castel  18.50

Rich, dense and deeply pigmented, this wine offers inviting herbaceous aromas of caraway and black pepper. A wine of deistinction, it offers and expressive nose, complex full body m and a balanced palate of ripe fruite and integrated tannins

Vintner's Reserve Cabernet Foch 26.50

Swiss grape breeder Valentin Blattner created this exciting new variety by crossing the world renowned Cabernet Sauvignon with the winter hardy and disease resistant Marechal Foch. This new grape variety has been grown in Nova Scotia since 2004 and appears very promising for our grape growing region. It ripens around the same time as Marechal Foch and produces small and loose clusters.

The Cabernet Foch is oak-aged and shows nuances of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Marechal Foch and displays an earthy and rustic nose of layered spices, ripe berries and a burst of cherry. With rich flabours of blackberry and cassis and just a touch of smoke, it has a beautifully long finish. This full bodied red wine is a perfect accompaniment to grilled meats and spicy pasta dishes.

Pomme d'Or 375ml 19.50
This golden, burnt amber cegape is made from both old and new apple varieties grown locally in the Annapolis Valley. This wine displays complex notes of baked apple, apricot and caramel, with a long, sweet finish of preserves.

Ortega Ice Wine  200ml 26.50/375ml 44.50

Fermented in oak, this extraordinary wine displays a noce with delicate hints of exotic spices and subtle floral notes with just a touch of smoke. The resulting wine is rich with ripe apricot,

jam and honey

Dolce Vita 375ml 29.50

This elegant red dessert wine is crafted from Annapolis Valley grown Marechal Foch grapes and displays intense notesof blackberry, cherry and raspberry. Delicate touches of oak,jam and red currant give the Dolce Vita a beautifully long and well-balanced finish. Ideal served on its own or with ripe creamy cheeses

41 Fortified White Wine 375ml 40.00

Our very first fortified white wine was made from a small batch of New York Muscat grapes that was harvested in October of 2006 and left in the greenhouse to allow drying for several weeks to concentrate flavors and sugars.

This wine displays interesting notes of dried fruit, apple, candied apricot, honey and oak and offers a pleasing balance of sweetness, acididty and tannins with a long lingering finsih. Enjoy this rare treat on its own, to cheeses or a variety of desserts
